Default 1998 Corvette PCM vs 1999-2000 F Body PCM

Ok, so my buddies dad purchased an LS1 with computer and harness from a 1998 Corvette. I have HP tuners for 1999 and 2000 F bodies and he will want me to tune it when he has completed installing it in his 67 camaro. I do not want to purchase more credits.

Can he just find a computer from a 99-00 f body and it will work with the 1998 corvette harness?
Does anyone have a part number for 99-00 f body PCM?
Does he need to buy 99-00 f body harness and PCM and will it work with the 1998 corvette engine?

Thanks,

I think it's cheaper to just pay the credits.
Anything can be done, but the cheapest and easiest way is to pay the credits and start working.

It'd be cheaper to buy credits but if he hasn't installed it yet it would be a splended idea to ditch the 98 junk and use a 99-up PCM and harness. If/when he mods the car it will have more options as far as features go in the tuning process of the motor.

He said the PCM is a 98 from a Corvette, so it's the same as 99+ Fbody's, no need to upgrade it
97 Corvette PCM is the same as 98 Fbody

Um no. 97 and 98 Vettes and 98 F-body PCMs are the same.

Question for the OP. Is your HP Tuners cable the serial port version? Reason I ask is most of those were sold with your choice of 2 model year licenses. Also what throttle body is he going to use in the 67? Cable or DBW? That will be important in deciding what OS to use, Vette or F-body. Lots of things are possible in conversions.

The corvette os will be for a dbw throttle body. If it were me and he hasn't installed the harness yet I would try and sell it and look for a 99+ fbody one. Then you would save money in credits and have an easier time getting his car to run right.
