02 readiness still won't clear

04 GTO PCM. I've got all o2 realted DTCs set to No Error Reported, from P0131 to P0167. Yet I can't clear it.

Do the SES Enable all need to be unchecked too? I don't get any DTCs or a CEL and I've driven plenty of drive cycles and reflashed recently twice and yet I can't clear it. Readiness shows not ready even with my generic ebay scanner.

Thanks,
Frank

The MIL enablers have to be set to MIL...

Thanks. One was set off I think. Will try again today. I noticed in MD that for '01+ they allow 1 non-continuous readiness monitor to fail and still pass emissions.

I have seen many GM OE calibrations that have the readiness set to pass when the PCM is on the bench. I have seen a stock XLR-V's with the cat DTC's shut off and the emissions monitor displaying PASS for the Cats.

If GM is able to do it you should be able also. The only issue would be the Tuning Software.

send me a copy of your tune and I will take a look at it

Sent.

Added all "SES Enables" that were not checked for the O2 section of DTCs and still get 02 readiness not ready. Below is my DTC file save.

No they don't, SES/MIL enable doesn't matter for readiness. You just have to set everything related to that readiness code to not report error.

I found this works (for me, using EFILive):

All the DTC's related to a readiness test need to be set to Not-Reported with MIL enabled

(see Service Manual for each readiness test's listed DTC's).

For a Not-Reported DTC, if the MIL is enabled the test immediately "runs" without reporting an error; when all the DTC tests for a readiness have "run" (regardless of test results), the readiness test becomes ready;

if the MIL is disabled for a Not-Reported DTC, the DTC's test is not "run"; one or more not-run DTC tests prevent the readiness test from becoming ready.

Unless HPTuners is different, that's just not true. I uncheck and set to not report and never have any problems with readiness.

I'll get out there after a few cups of coffee and the laptop charged and flash the latest per CalEditor (afte checking out my file) with SES unchecked and see what's up. I had darn near everything set to "No Error Reported" but did have SES enable all checked.

CalEditor@PCMCalibrators Apr 8, 2012 09:11 AM

If it changes to N/A let me know and I will come up with another plan

No dice with them turned off. Flashed with them off. Pulled DTCs and saved, read PCM again to make sure tune wrote properly.

I also noticed that my EVAP gets a complete with SES enabled and "No Error Reported" and my EGR and Secondary Air get an N/A with "SES NOT Enabled" and "No Error Reported".

Does that mean that the readiness will not complete with SES NOT ENABLED which seems to be what BLK02WS6 alluded to?

CalEditor@PCMCalibrators Apr 8, 2012 10:44 AM

Let me see how GM did it and I will post back shortly

fmowry Apr 8, 2012 10:57 AM

Thanks. This PCM was a bit screwy when I bought it a few years ago. I could not fix issues with the speedo section (in hptuners) so I had to compare it to an almost stock GTO, and copy over the differences from that file to mine, then change it again and it saved.

Apparently you can't compare DTC pages from two tunes and copy over though. I don't see the Engine Diag in the comparison log file when I compare mine to another GTO tune.

Yeah, you have to change all the O2 codes to get it to be ready.

I must have missed the other HO2S settings CalEditor listed above. I wrongly assumed they were all grouped together.

I'm at work now away from the laptop so I'll check tonight when I get home.

Thanks,
Frank

So I'm an idiot. Totally missed the second section of DTCs for HO2S that CalEditor showed in his post. Changed them and flashed and am good to go. I feel like a big dummy.

Part of the downside to using a netbook to run HPtuners. When I paged down on the DTC page I must have blown right by the second section.

(I have to make some excuse other than my own stupidity).

Thanks again,
Frank
