How much timing at freeway cruise speeds
1999 firehawk
3.50 gears
4L80E
turbo 390 236/236,.581/.581
Cruising at 60mph I'm at about 2,000rpm, how much timing do I want to run in the 1800-2200rpm area? I'm presently running 29-32 degrees and I'm wondering if I should bump it up?

A good base map is the '01/'02 timing table. Check those same cells in a newer tune and see what the difference is. I basically run a lightly modified version of that map in my H/C car for cruising speeds. It's been tweaked in the low load/low RPM sections to improve drive-ability and modified for WOT above .56 grams/cyl (IIRC). Other than that, I believe I'm running factory timing.

What I would do is have somebody bump your timing on
a long level piece of highway while they watch the MAP
reading. When you see minimum MAP you've found max
motor efficiency (for the present fueling, air / coolant
temps and so on).
