Megasquirt or factory PCM and standalone harness?

i want to tune my own car....i dont want to have to pay someone for dyno time and tuning my car everytime i change something...i really dont care about dyno numbers...track times are what matter.

currently i have a brand new tech rods stand alone EFI harness and factory PCM to use with my turbo 4.8 in my fox body......if i use it i will have to A. pay someone to tune the car for me or B. spend a boat load of cash and buy HP tuners and then go to classes in order to learn how to use it...

or

Run a MS1 or 2 and tune the car myself and re coup the money spent by selling the stand alone harness and PCM...the auto tune features with megasquirt and the capabilities are far more user friendly than HP tuners IMO...

my mustang is not a daily driver and is 90 percent of the time a track car..

what do you guys think?

If non electronic trans, go megasquirt.

Then megasquirt. Tuning is free and fairly easy. I like the real time tuning on the fly.

i ordered my megasquirt from DIYautotune.com and assembled it and the stimulator in roughly 5 hours...also, with the help of Denmah, i have everything i need to build a harness...super easy!!!

That's an MS1. How are you planning on handling the ignition duties ?

no MS3? I have one I am going to try but I do like the idea of easing into with MS1 and an MSD unit for spark. good luck with the build
