Holley HP Conversion - Need required PN's I'm making the switch from a stock modified harness (swapped car) to the Holley HP EFI. I was curious if anyone had a list of part numbers that are required to do what I need. Car is going to be a 5.3 with a turbo, t56 trans. Need to be able to control boost, wideband (included?), Electric fans, etc. Please excuse my ignorance, this is my first go at this. |
I sent you a PM but Ill answer some of your questions here as well. 550-602 is just your basic kit (main harness, power harness, injector harness, wideband sensor, and HP ECU) If you plan on controlling boost via Holley you will need: 557-200 Boost solenoid(X2 would be best) 554-107Map Sensor (3 bar) Pressure Sensor for the wastegate(You can use a map sensor or 100psi sensor) 554-102 100 Psi sensor for oil and fuel(NOT needed but recommended) 558-400 Input/Output Harness(Connects to your main harness and you can use it for the boost solenoids and Fans) If you have not downloaded the Holley Software I would highly suggest it and read over the instructions, its free and will help you get a understanding on the system. |

with the HP, you only have 4 inputs and outputs.... 2 of those outputs will be to control your FANS...... so knowing that, you will only have 2 outputs for controlling boost.... these 2 outputs will use 2 Holley solenoid drivers...both need to be a pwm- the 4 outputs of the HP are Hot or PWM+ (x2) Ground or PWM- (x2) so you would need to rewire the fans to be Hot activated and not ground activated like stock and use the 2 pwm- outputs for the Boost soloenoids.... you wil need 2 Holley 554-111 High Current Solenoid Drivers to go with the list mentioned above....one per boost solenoid Holley has them labeled as use for Nitrous on their website, but you also use these for the Boost control with the Boost solenoids |

Thanks. I haven't decided on my fan setup yet, but I'd be completely ok with only having one speed if it left me with more capablility through the ECU. Honestly, not really gaining anything from going down to one fan speed.. If you need more inputs and outputs.. consider buying a dominator instead... Plus you would gain the ability to control a 4l80/4l60. |

Whats the reason for not running them off a standard relay? I currently have mine wired up using a PWM+ signal. |
Standard relay is too slow...and will burn up from trying to pulse like it was not designed to do..boost control takes a much faster correction than a standard relay can do.. The Holley relay is a solid state relay. You should never use a standard relay for any progressive or any pwm situations. And you always want to use a pwm- when you can.... |

I was playing around with a 440 ls golen engine with the holley efi hp , and wow that interface is very very friendly and easy , fast tuning even with a big cam |
The high current solenoid drivers are not a requirement. Per EFI engineers it's preferred to wire the Holley boost solenoids up to a solid 12v source, and use the pwm- directly from the ECU. There is nothing wrong with using the HCD, other than the additional costs, and labor to wire in. |

I was informed incorrectly by somebody else using it with the High Current Drivers...but after some reasearch I'm finding out that the Holley Solenoids can be wired to any Switched 12v signal(not directly to the Holley...must be extrenal 12v) and then the Ground side can go directly to the Holley in any PWM- output. With that being said If I wired up a relay to be hot at all times (whether it be by key or switch) and supply the solenoid a constant 12v and just control it with a PWM- from the ecu it should work.
