If you own the "HP Tuners VCM Suite MPVI Pro" package, how do you like it? I'm looking at this package. It comes with 8 GM credits so I assume I can tune 8 GM engines. I will eventually be tuning an LT4 with x24 kit and LS1 computer and this is the one they recommend that had enough credits. More urgently, I'll be using it to tune my '04 truck. I've never tuned anything before but I do have a computer science degree. How tough can it be? :D It's a lot of cash, I just want some idea of what I'm getting into... |

Check this site out. It gives you all the information about credits. It takes 2 credits per ls1 vehicle. http://www.hptuners.com/products/vcm...ditsfaq.php#a6 I would recommend, if you have never tuned before, trying the tuning school, beginners course. Either learn at home or the actual class. It will definitely get you started and you wont pull as much hair out. :) I have the Pro and before I went through the at home tuning school course, it took me a long time to just figure out what was going on with the VE table. A lot of forum reading and testing and hoping I don't mess anything up. Now that I have gone through the tuning process that the tuning school walks you through, I feel very comfortable and understand a lot more about what is going on. But, if you are that interested, go ahead and buy it and play around with it. See if you can pick it up on your own. If not, there are ways to learn it. In the long run, it will save you some cash doing it yourself and not taking it to a dyno shop. |

As noted above, the tuning school book is invaluable when you get started. It does add to the cost, but we offer packages that include it at a discounted rate. Also, ask yourself how badly you need Pro instead of standard HPT, that could save you some money too. I have the standard hp. There is a learning curve but with your background you should pick it up fairly quick. Go with the Pro version I wish I did. Do a lot of studying on there forum when you get the software so you understand it. |
It's easier to buy the Pro and be done! Buy the best first time around. |

Gen 1 block that supports LS heads… add the EFI Connections 24x (LS1) ignition kit and computer. Talk about hybrid! |
If I had to do it over, I would have gone with EFI Live instead. For what I have used it for it would have been cheaper (and easier) to go with EFI over HPT. Just my personal feeling. |
I have the pro and had no previous tuning experience but in have read a ton watched the videos and play with it probably 10 hrs a week. I love it..I know about 10% of what I can do though. |
