CEL with no codes, won't start!

So we rebuilt my brothers ls1 in his 99 TA. We can't get the engine to start, at first we had a po335 voltage issue with crank sensor. We installed new sensor, plug and wiring. Still no start, code is gone but the check engine light is still on. I test with a meter and we do have the proper ground and power to the sensor and with the code gone I don't think this is our problem.

We had a wire mixed up at the starter and arched the negitive to the battery untill we realized what we did this happened 2 times! What are the chances the computer is fried? Not sure what else to do, everything is plugged in and we are code free at this point. It seems like we don't have spark still. How can we have a CEL and no codes?

What are you using to check the codes?

Scanner is a CAN OBDII

Can it read body codes???

This is what I'm going through right now. No spark.

Not sure, tried our other PCM and nothing. I checked the voltage to the pink coil, and the volts are dropping to 8 during cranking! Still no spark, checked with a old plug during crank.

You need a scan tool that can read body codes.

They are different from engine and transmission codes. Not all code readers or basic scan tools are capable of this.

Sound like it could possibly be an anti theft issue.
