maf reading low at wot

Don't post much but here goes. I started tuning my car with hp tuners. Got ve tables so I'm with in 3% on fuel trims. Getting ready to start on maf table. But I noticed my maf hz was little low. At wot it was only reading 8900. So it was causing my timing to pull off a low air mass/ cylinder reading.. like .49g. So it was pulling 31° at 5000 rpm. It's also cutting my fuel back because it thinks it's not getting much air. Cleaned maf and filter no change. Should I continue with maf table tuning or keep investigating why maf reading is low? 99 z28 auto

Good job tuning your VE tables and noticing that the MAF frequency was way low.
Many MAF failures are reported here; you like need a new one. Probably best to search for the a good price on an OEM replacement.

my C5 has an 85mm MAF. Recently switched to an unscreened unit.
Peak hz at WOT is 9200
Cyl airmass is .9 g/cyl

Can you post the tune you are using for MAF only tuning?

I done a scan with maf disabled , sd. got down to .71g/cyl.

Thanks,

I just wanted to check to make sure you are in MAF only.
Yours is the small MAF, so I agree you should try another one.

Shouldn't be too hard to find a used one.

If yor VE is that close you could just eliminate the maf as well rather than buying another one.
