Default Do I need to go from a 98 to 99 PCM for what I want?

I bought a 98 M6 Z28 from a member here with an MS4 cam and a lot of other upgrades since it was a good deal and didn't think my 99 SS was worth sinking money into.

I have heard some bad things about the 98 PCM and I am looking into going from the very radical MS4 cam to a 'baby' 222/230 114 LSA EPS cam in an effort to radically improve fuel mileage and keep a lot of the power I have. If I want the best tune possible and fuel mileage is important to me, is getting rid of the 98 PCM a worthwhile goal? From what threads Ive managed to find in search it looks like a very involved process and I simply don't have the time or knowledge to take on something like this myself. Its also not an expense I like the idea of taking on since a cam swap and tune can be a spendy endeavor themselves. However, is it worth it for what I'm after?

There is nothing wrong with a 98 PCM unless you need a custom OS that is not available for it. And you don't.
