wideband in tailpipe/ fresh air aversion
hi, I'm getting ready to do some tuning for the first time. my car has true 3 inch duals, no cats. I've read of some cases where afr will show around a .5 point lean with the wideband in the tails.
it seems like this is caused by clean air aversion back into the tail pipes. how far would I have to insert an o2 sensor into the tailpipe to get good readings?
or should I stop screwing around and just weld a bung in?

I've only seen fresh air reversion in a tailpipe under one condition, and that was rust holes in the pipe.
I once passed emissions that way, too. The probe went into the tailpipe and then out the rust hole. Of course, I immediately informed the DMV attendant of the error....

I have at least 2 widebands on the dyno on every vehicle when I am tuning. Alot of times I'll stick one of the widebands in the tailpipe and 99% of the time it read within .1 or match exactly with the one in header or bung up front at WOT. Now part throttle they will not match each other.
