Default Diablosport Predator will not communicate

So when I bought the car the owner gave me the married programmer that he had purchased for the car in 2012.

About a month ago I used the programmer to check codes, and reinstall the stock tune on the car after a header install and it worked like a champ.

This past weekend I was going to try my luck at trying to tune a bit. When I plugged in the scanner it booted as normal. Turned the key on and went to diagnostics/read codes. The tuner came back with cannot read codes verify key is in the on position and try again.

Did that with no luck, tried reading the VIN and the predator says cannot communicate.

Plugged in my MAC Mentor and looked at codes, data logged, cleared codes. So the problem is not related to the pcm or dtc port.

Is the DS Predator garbage now?

in between the time you restored the original backup stock tune and a month or so later trying to use it again when you got the error, did you add anything aftermarket to the car like aftermarket stereo, subs, amps, nav, remote start, alarm, etc.? if so, you need to disconnect them.. something is blocking communications from the predator to the pcm.

Thanks for the reply, however nothing was added to the car.

I did disconnect the battery and ECM harnesses from the ECM. That's all that has been done.

Just funny that my mac connects each and every time but not the predator.

My only thought is that maybe the cable got pulled from the top of the device and got damaged/disconnected from the board. You can open it up and take a look if needed.

Took the rear cover off lastnight very carefully removing the ribbon cable from the pcb. The solder connections still look good.

Still nothing guess it's toast.

They are pretty solid tools, I have rarely seen one that was truly toast
