MAF Translators.....What's the difference?!?!

How many versions are there? What does a v5 do that a v4 can't???

I need something to get me by until I can get a tune....would a v4.1 work fine?

What can a v4.1 do?

Theyre all basically the same. I cant tell any difference anyway.

i dont know the difference either, i have version 4.X and it works great for me

I think V5 works with more vehicles (a DIP
switch in there for engine types?). I have
a 4.1 that's never been on my engine...
I never munged my MAF badly enough to
need it.

So can I use it to tune for idle only?

See, I already have a Predator...but I know that does nothing for rich/lean at idle. Can I use both together?

I just did a TR224 and LTs and I need something to get me by until I can get a tune...will a MAFT and a Predator work?

Yes, you can use both. With the MAFT you can tune the idle and/or WOT. First you tune the idle, when set, then adjust the WOT. It's a trial and error process made easier with a data logging program. I had one (still have the Instructions) that was the 5.X version. If I remember correctly, the 5.0 and newer version had a special knob/adjustment just for larger aftermarket MAF's. Contact Dave at Ramchargers (sponsor here) to confirme that, they created it. Also, Corvetteforum.com used to have a basic how-to write up that was a pretty good primer.

99ssleeper - Cant you get a custom tune from RWTD? Even if you cant adjust idle from the preditor itself, I think they (james?) can write a tune for you. Id suggest that before the MAFT.

I didnt buy my predator from RWTD...so I dont think he'll do that for me, I dont know....

Anyone else have any other input????

Will the MAFT mess with the line pressure of my tranny since the airflow signal is being interpreted differently? But this shouldnt matter if I tune for idle only, right?

It is my understanding that if you change the Base setting, that will affect WOT operation as well. If a4, then yes this will affect your line pressure. If your leaning the car out then it will soften your shifts. If youre trying to richen the car, then it may firm them up.
