Default Car Got Wet, Now it's Pissed.

Out on my honeymoon right now with an 02 trans am, ran perfect before it had to drive through some puddles. Next morning,
- tach, fuel, temp gauges not working
- service vehicle soon, service vehicle, abs inop, air bag lights are on
- after starting car, it bogs down hard when accelerating. Pops a bit extra at times like it's running rich
- after a few mins of the stumbling, it drives fine but gauges and lights are not fixed.

Any tips on where I should focus my efforts for a potential quick fix? Kinda busy with the rest of the honeymoon plans still underway! Thank you in advance

oh wow that stinks man . Have you ever had issues with it before. Maybe the pcm got wet ? was the car rained on or just driven through puddles.

If you hit a good size puddle you could have sucked/splashed some water up into your air filter. That would explain the bogging down and sputtering, you're trying to suck air through a wet filter (not efficient) and pulling droplets of water into your intake (hence the sputtering).
As for the lights, obviously something in the electrical system got wet. I've had this happen several times over the years and 3 out of 4 times the issue resolved itself over the course of a couple of days after everything dried out. If it doesn't fix itself then start going through the process of troubleshooting the electric system to find out what the water got into and tore up.
If it was me (on my honeymoon) I'd go to a parts store, replace my air filter, have them read my check engine light to see what code it may show (just in case) and then, if the car is running fine other than the gauge issues - enjoy my honeymoon and worry about it when I got home. Just make sure to keep an eye on mileage and fill up every couple of hundred miles!

I had bucking for weeks and backfiring for months after driving through standing water last year. After changing my spark plugs the bucking went away.

O2 Sensors/Harness got wet? Are they 'exposed'/frayed?

Sounds like water in the gas tank. If you filled up for fuel on a rainy day its quite possible the gas station got some water in their underground tanks.

Thanks for all the replies everyone!! Was lucky enough to make it home where I'm going to dig in to the problem with your suggestions.

Some odd things I found out further:
- OBD scanners can't communicate. Fried ECM maybe?
- The bogging acceleration is only during the first minute of driving, and is generally remedied by going past half throttle which jolts it back into acceleration. It won't really fall back into bogging after that, until the next ign cycle.

I also have access to a Tech 2 scanner at work, going to give that a try.

Well I tried the GM Tech 2 scanner and it can't establish a connection either. This seems like a big clue for me to jump into fixing. What would cause OBD scanners to not work?

Factory service manuals are below through 2000, maybe look at the diagnostics for a few of symptoms and see if you can find a common denominator.

Forgot to report back here. Wanted to for archival sake. The root cause ended up being corrosion at the pcm connection terminals.... lots of it. The wiper cowl seal had pulled away, allowing water to route its way down to the pcm.

Apparently the puddle was the coupe de grace for an existing iffy situation. Thanks for the report!
