Thompson motorsports 383 stroker untuned?
About ready to slide my Thompson motorsports 383 stroker lm7 in my Trans am. My question is can I start the engine on the prexisting tune. it will only temperaly run on the tune until i can have it retuned. Motor was tuned for a HCI combo previously that I swapped over all the components to the new 383. The only thing that is being changed on the car is the bottom end. The bottom end is a full forged internal 383 lm7 with -2cc pictons, so stock compression.any help will be greatly appreciated

When I got my Thompson Motorsports 370 I took my ECM to my new tuner so he could flash a base tune for me until I could get it to his dyno. I wasn't taking any chances with a completely new bottom end like this. It did have the old tune with the LS1 and I reused my top end as well

We strongly recommend you put a base tune in to prevent damage. It is possible that it could work without an issue but if it hurts something you are tearing it down to repair. It is always best to air on the side of caution with a new build.

I put put the old injectors back in for now. I do have new injectors but I knew that it wasn't safe to run the new injectors without a tune. I more or less just want to be able to start the motor to check for leaks and insure everything is functioning properly before I take it to a tuner.

He did a 10% increase in displacement. If his O2s are still turned on, they should be able to compensate enough that he would never tell the difference without WOT or a wideband.
