Just beware that the the Vx diag stuff is being cloned and the clones really vary in quality to the point that they are incapable of doing anything more then reading data pids with tech2win. I personally had to go though 5 Vx nano's before getting one that was fully functional. The clones are a very real issue with these.
LS Droid is and likely will only ever be done via bluetooth with devices like the Obd Link stuff.

It's the Bluetooth version of the Allpro that isn't working with my Android Apps or the Pcm Hammer.

Usb version has been for fine for a while however as we continue to develop and improve the firmware the device may need to be updated. To update the Allpro USB takes around 5 minutes and is very simple to do.

Box is there for cases like yours when the serial number is stored at an alternative address. Nothing wrong with using it, it was something I added quickly while troubleshooting an issue with someone.....it fixed the issue and I just haven't done anything techie with it yet. Same thing with the "hidden" button to write over a tuner locked Seed/Key, added it in quickly for someone.....it worked and haven't figured out a cool way to integrate that feature on screen. All of that stuff will get sorted out when I add support for the P59 pcm's hopefully over the winter months.

one thing i'd like to point out for those playing along at home, and maybe I can save pete from having to explain this a bunch of times like he did for me.
put an on-off switch on your bench harness on the pin 19 key-on power. after you hit save, you need to have 12v b+ connected (pin 20) but pin 19 switched off (unpowered)
this is for the guys using ls droid on the p01 computers.

haha didn't make it far with tuner pro.
i'm using v4 RT and I have no parameter tree selection under the view tab as indicated by the instructions antus provided here
https://github.com/LegacyNsfw/PcmHac...type%20PCM.pdf
I do have the 512Kb PCM OS checksum plugin saved
I could not get v5 to run, btw.
Thanks everyone. Hopefully your help with the very basic stuff will enable me to help others get up to speed.
do I need to upgrade to the v5? I couldnt get it to run.

LS Droid will not work if you cut the switched and constant power with one switch. When the switched 12 volt power is turned off the pcm goes into a shutdown mode, this is how I side load the changes to the serial number. If you just cut all power the pcm will not go into the shutdown mode and the new serial number will not be side loaded onto the flash chip and out of the pcm's volatile memory.
Vin number is changed using commands that are a part of the Motorola command set and does not require the same shutdown procedure in a lot of case. In anycase it's not a good idea to just cut all power to the pcm when you turn it off. That's be like unplugging your Pc when you want to turn it off.

Ls Droid will also do what you want but is Android based and Bluetooth only.
In any case once you change the vin Hp tuners will likely not recognize that the pcm is licensed or may not even read it at all. You would need to change the vin number back to what ever it currently is for it to recognize your license and read it correctly. It's not going to hurt anything buy may be annoying if you need to do any flashing.
Most commercial stuff will use one of 2 methods to identify "How" the pcm should be read or flashed. By using the VIN they are able to know what OS SHOULD be on it, what type of pcm it is and what the file size would be. Other software will just check the OS ID and pull from a list of all known OS's to determine what file size and format the pcm should be.

alright Ive got tunerpro v5 open and working. I can view 512Kb BINs and XDFs, alter them, save them etc.
i still get a msvcr120.dll missing error when I open tunerpro, even though I have reinstalled C++ visual basic and rebooted a couple times. ----not sure how to fix that---
I cannot figure out how to download the beta XDF for the p59 OS thats up on github. anyone care to share a p59 XDF?
I'm really interesting in fixing the flex spark table on my turbo truck.
