Default L20/6L80 swap -e38/t43- idle surge in gear SOLVED

I think I posted about this before but I'm still at it and not making progress.

I think a big portion of the issue is my lack of understanding about how the e38 works in MAF mode, so I will start at the beginning and hope one of you kind souls takes pity on me.

This motor and trans are 100% stock internally. External bolt ons: a CAI of sorts and the MAF switched to an LS7 card style and the IAT placed in the EGR port. Rear o2's and cats deleted.

I have tried reducing the idle over/under spark advance to steady the idle without much luck.

I have searched for vacuum leaks but it seems to only surge in gear, which is difficult to check for leaks by myself

Any ideas on where to look next?

As always, post data. Does it still surge a bit but correct itself when you rev in PN? It's likely that you just need to re-calibrate for the new MAF...

right, I should have posted a log and the tune. derp.

yes, it does correct in P/N

I have the maf cells I can get to in park pretty dialed lol but it dies in gear immediately.

it did this surge before we swapped to a ls7 maf. it does it worse now of course since the maf scale is way off.

I'll get a clean log and the tune and a video clip in a few.

You should just be able to fix the maf scaling if in maf mode and it will run fine if theirs no mechanical issue.

i'm posting from my buddies ls1tech log-in and laptop (his laptop and mvpi cable)

here's the tune and a log of several attempts to get it into gear. i'll post a youtube link in a sec when it uploads.

please note the title off the tune is just version 5.3 (not 5.3 liters)
