if i download someelse's stock tune (my stock tune was lost due to cataclismic hard drive failure, do I have to pay attention to anything other than year, tranny, and rear-end gears for compatability?

I wouldn't worry too much about the gears, man, you can fill that in yourself...year is a definite, our 98's are different from the other F-bodies' PCMs...tranny, I'm not sure of, I'd guess it'd have to be compatible, but I might be wrong....I've been wrong before many, many times. If the A4 and M6 are compatible, you can rip the bin from my vehicle of course. I just gotta find time to make it down there. Got your computer fixed yet?

There will be tuning differences between A4 and M6's( e.g. idle speed, RAF, etc..)

That makes enough sense. But will a bin from an M6 know how to shift an automatic?

I have the same exact combo as a buddy of mine, with the exception of larger exhaust (i have 3" he has 2.5") and his car is an 02 Camaro and mine is a 99 TA. Can I burn the 02 .bin to my 99? We have the same cam, both ported tb, both pulley, both mti lid, both intake, etc etc. Mine has spray his does not.. but I can tune it for that if I can get his tune for the baseline.

Can you load these tunes into your car if the car and mods match? I tired it and it told me something like OS ID doesn't match VCM or something like that.

EDIT: I got it.

I don't know if it will download directly from car to car but you can use someone else's tune as a reference for your tune and make similar changes. Basically cut and paste. That is all I can think of, but then again I am a noob to the whole tuning thing.

It will shift...but horribly. Plus you'd get dozens of SES codes ta boot. You have to flash an a4 bin to an A4 conversion.

if you run across errors like this, please right click on the download link, go to properties and copy the URL ... then let me know and I"ll take a look...

In my last load of .bins I didn't have time to do a real thourough check (compare database record to physical file) so some items that weren't actually uploaded may have gone live....

I've been having some issues w/my host the last 2 days also so that may be part of it also...

Ported TB should not alter the volumetric efficiency of your motor. However if you have a smaller than normal IAC hole, you may need to shange your IAC effective area and the RAF tables. These will need to be done on your car, since each TB will react differently.
