1996 Impala SS pcm not completed programming flashing?

Hello,

before about 5 months I was flashing the OBD2 pcm of my 1996 Impala SS with the JET flashing software but at 90% of the flashing the flashing stopped and the pcm didn't complete flashing and now the Impala's engine isn't turning on.

what to do? can I reflash the pcm again while it is connected to the car with the JET flashing software or that will not work?

how to fix the pcm?

thanks for help.

Abdullah

If the pcm is bricked, itll need to be brought to a dealer or someone with a tech2 to have a file put back into it. You can try reflashing it with jet if it will communicate.

Try using the RECOVERY function from JET flash software (connect a battery charger, most flash failures are caused by low battery voltage).
If it doesn't work then the PCM is bricked and a Tech2 won't fix it. I have fixed several but you need to desolder the flash chip from the board, can't be fixed thru OBD2
Not worth the work and time it takes to fix them, just buy another and change it, use a battery charger from now on when flashing.

I tried to reflash the PCM but it doesn't want to communicate with the JET flash software.

I ordered a used OBD2 PCM taken from a 1996 5.7 LT1 Caprice. Ì bought that PCM from eBay for around $89 with shipping.

now it is another around 10 days until I get the used PCM here in Kuwait.

I have had success saving it with a tech 2 but I bench flashed it though.

How did you bench flashed the PCM? what car it was? what model and year?

BTW, When I tried to program my 1996 Impala SS PCM the first time before 5 months I didn't know at that time about the JET tuning software and the JET flash software windows compatibility mode has to be set to windows XP SP2 and the windows compatibility was unchecked in the properties of the JET tuning and flash softwares, for that the PCM programming got corrupted and just before a week I corrected the windows compatibility mode and set it to windows XP SP2.

I will try PCM recovery function from the JET flash program may be it can revive the PCM!?.

I also have a bench harness but most LT1 PCMs are unrecoverable after a bad flash using obd2 tools.
