Hand held tuner for cam? Wondering the best type of hand hald tuner I could get until I have the chance to dyno tune my car. Do modded cars react better to tuners than stock trim? Thanks for your time G |
Neither the HPP2 nor Predator are very good for a non-stock vehicle. The Predator has to get a tune (custom) loaded, if you are very different from any of the ones they've done before at the vendor who serves you, you may wait quite a while. The new Vinci handheld claims to have some ready-to-go cam & boltons tunes, but again it matters how much you resemble what they've "got on the shelf" I think. Given that all of these units are about 75%+ of the price of HPTuners, and nowhere near the capability, you might ought to consider the high road. |
here's one you can use. you select the cam profile that matches your cam. load it. then you can tune from there with it. http://www.stealthram.com/vhptuner.htm i am currently using it on my 00 formula all stock excpet for SLP airlid and cutout. using the hiperf/stock cam setting + 10% timing, i gained .2 in the 1/4 mile. can't beat that from a handheld. all stock + cutout open 60ft - 2.073 1/8 - 8.833 @ 82.55 1/4 - 13.636 @ 101.58 above + performance/stock cam program,+10% timing, shift firmness, shift enhancement 60ft - 2.041 1/8 - 8.697 @ 83.51 1/4 - 13.431 @ 102.90 i tried others like the stock cam/supercharged and the CAM #1 just for giggles. i gained a .1et/.5mph over stock from the CAM #1. for the supercharged one .05et/.3mph. remember the only thing i have added are the SLP airlid and cutout |
currently there is a GP going on in the sponsor section for it. |
