need help car won't idle i pulled off the 2 sensors from the TB and the two from intake/maf...i forgot to plug them back in and started car (or at least tried to)...it wouldn't idle which i thouhgt was normal since i have an untuned cam car (wouldn't go past 500 rpms when i was tapping the gas to try and get it to start)...but then i remembered that i forgot about them...so i plugged them back in and now every time i push in the clutch car drops to 500rpms then shoots up to 1000 and keeps doing that...it also took about 2 minutes to get the car to idle when i first cranked it up..what do i need to do to get it back to "normal" |
Do you have an SES light on? You prolly set a MAF code since the MAF was disconnected... this would put you in Speed Density ... clear the codes (puill PCM Bat and PCM Ign fuses with Key in Run position, or use a scanner) The car's "learning" how to idle after the PCM is disconnected/loses power so it will jump around trying to learn how to idle.... w/that big of a cam though it will probably still have poor idle characteristics w/out tuning |
umm i have a code from the !egr and whatever else may be popping codes...i don't have a scanner so where is all of this stuff you are talking about pulling...is it in the fuse box on the right side under the hood? and when you say key in run position do you mean cranked or just turned to where the lights come on?...thanks |
The two fuses are in the engine compartment, front driver's side. Key should be in the RUN position with the engine off. Pull the two fuses, wait 5-10 minutes, turn the key OFF, then put the fuses back in. This should clear the PCM. |
alright thanks guys |
how long does it take before it "relearns" ? |
A couple hundred miles should do it. |
oh ok...i thought maybe 5 minutes haha...thanks |
