whats the difference in pcm's?
 

Whats the difference between a 99 firehawk or transam pcm and a 2002 ss camaro pcm? Can these be interchanged, or not?

yes they can be interchanged... 99-02 F-Body PCMs are similar enough that they can be used throughout those years, just need a flash to the proper OS so the injectors and other tables are inline for the year

98 is the only year that's odd man out

ok cause the guys that i am buying or gettin this off of, i am also buying his procharger and all the other stuff, so he has had that pcm dnyo tunned, and that will save me the hassel, thanks alot

Keep in mind his dyno tune w/that PCM may not work well w/your car... if he was running stock injectors, then he's tuned for 26lb/hr injectors... you have 28lb/hr in your car

Or if he put bigger injectors in you'll need the same in order to use the PCM out of the box so to speak

the VE table will be different as well I believe since your stock cam is smaller than a 99 stock cam, but you have an LS6 intake whereas a stock 99 doesn't have an LS6 intake man

Biggest concern though would be injectors... your 28lb injectors in a PCM tuned for 26lb/hr would result in the car running rich

he was running 42 lb injectors and i plan to use the same, so will it be fine then you think

are you sure, i am not discrediting you, but i should be able to drive my car fine with no problems out of it, and without tunning it again, even with him having a different cam and intake? I want to make sure, i am so nervous.

It should be close enough to drive around but it won't be 100% optimized. There are lots of people who drive around on stock tunes with cams bigger than a 224/224 and LS6 intakes in place of their LS1 intakes. It's not perfect, but it will work. The computer is pretty good at compensating for changes. If it were me, I'd spend some time and a few bucks to do some scanning/logging to ensure that everything looks good before beating on it.

well, my computer is stock right now, and i was going to get his, and trade him for mine. He had the procharger, 42 lb injectors, 8 psi of boost, and i think thats it on his tune, he made like 520rwhp, so i would say the tune is aggressive. But since you guys say it will work, but not be 100% maybe i will just keep my tune, and pull my car somewhere out of state, wheres a good place to get a tune near wv, like ohio or pa or something?
