99z jus dyno'd

The car put down 297hp 311tq basically stock, had just and slp lid, no filter or anything else. Problem here was that the a/f was at 14.0 to 14.5 throughout the whole pull and up top there was some major detonation, i want to say from about 5k to redline. Any ideas on what to do to get rid of this? Car runs premium fuel and jus had new plugs and wires put in, also has 85k on it. Thanks

richen it a little. Should be 12.8>13.2 at WOT max

stonemonk Aug 7, 2005 10:45 AM

Ya, i know it should be alot more on the rich side but how would i go about doing that?

PREDATOR-Z Aug 7, 2005 11:07 AM

Tune it or get a MAFT and add fuel via that.

stonemonk Aug 7, 2005 11:22 AM

wat does somthing like that go for? and have any sites i could take a look at one? thanks for the help

try LS1edit and tune it with a wide band O2. LS1edit will run you $500. or if you want go to a dyno near you and i guess they can tune your car.

a good tune will run you about 400-500 dollars.or you could buy LS1 edit or HPTuners and do it yourself and spend about as much on the software.check the sponsor list-----------------> to find somebody near you.

personally,i would go for no leaner than 12.8 or 12.9 to 1 AFR on the street, just to be safe.i've had the misfortune to get some crappy gas on occasion,so i like to be a little conservetive.Predator has the advantage of 98+ octane oversees :hail:

Yeap, true, sometimes I forget that.

Or 3rd option is find a reputable tuner near you and dyno tune it. Still $450

MAFT is $179.99 at Thunder

wouldnt this also indicate some sort of problem? The A/F line doesnt even drop from 14.7 under WOT, Im wondering if its not going into open loop where it runs on the set table for WOT conditions.....? Is this possible?

have it scanned to see what exactly is going on.with the factory tune it should be running a little rich when under WOT.

Thats wat i was thinkn, I have an auto tap so ill try to see what the o2 sensors are doing and wat mode it is in under wot. Im just afraid to floor it now though, im afraid that pinging is really going to damage somthing.

Check the fuel pressure at WOT. Might want to try a new fuel filter if the pressure is low.

cam75w/ls1 Aug 8, 2005 09:34 PM

Might want to flow test the fuel pump. Said you had 85k on the car and even though you may have plenty of fuel pressure you may be lacking fuel volume at top end.
