Default HP Tuners Locking Up?

You guys have any problems with HP Tuners locking up on you? Every now and then while I'm scanning it'll lock up. Its annoying because I have to stop the scan, lose all the data, and then start scanning again to fix it. I also get the "attempting to reconnect" message alot. Anyone know why?

If you use a mouse, try another one.

Are you using a USB to Serial adapter, if so what brand?

My laptop using the Radio Shack usb/serial adaptor won't lock me up, but most of the time hard boots my computer after saving a log session. I'm using EFI Pro more and more now because of that.

I had that problem. It would every once ina while loose communication with pcm. Then it would get a connection and would be in slow mode. It kept getting worse and worse. I found it was my cable. Or the serial cable part of the cable. I guess it had partially broken wires in the cable were it attaches to the laptop. I guess from setting it in the seat and bending the cable there by the connector.

I replaced the serial cable and have not had a problem since.

The only time I lost a scan was when I nailed a large bump which shocked the laptop. I'd look into other computer problems first before the actual scanner software

Joey, your laptop is rebooting due to your adapter drivers. They are not handling the close port command properly.

Try a keyspan adapter and you shouldn't have any problems.

I don't use a mouse, just the keypad. I also don't use a USB adapter, just the serial cable into the laptop. Maybe the serial cable is bad. It only a few weeks old though. It does the reconnect thing alot. Locks up every now and then. Very annoying.

It happened today while I was trying to log. I would get the attempting to reconnect every five seconds, and it locked up twice. It is VERY annoying, to say the least! I emailed HP tuners support, I really hope they have an answer.
