Question 0420 gonna cost me?

I have had my "service engine light" on for a couple weeks, got it scanned at autozone, throwin code 0420, bad cat, called the local pontiac dealer, asked about it, he said it was under warranty, but wasnt sure if it was because i have an SLP cat-back. second he said id have to pay for diagnostics. anyone else have this problem and have their converter(s) replaced? did you have to pay for diagnostics? -Justin

considering its not upstream of your cat they have no reason to say thats what caused it...you shouldnt have to pay for anything seeing its an emissions control device which should be warrantied for 8 years 80k miles if im not mistaken

there needs to be a sticky on the aftermarket/warrentee rights. you shouldn't have to pay to replace it jsut cause of an exhaust add on after teh cats. where do you live? you could just gut it and ditch the cats.

If the cats are OEM, they should replace it

yup your cats have a 7 or 8 year warrenty. look at my sig, my dealer replaced mine with my mods no questions asked.
then again right before my warrenty was up i got new t-top seals, door seals, rack & pinion, main seal( and free labor for new clutch install since the stock clutch was out.....)
the key is go to a place with a cool service manager.
