Default Do 2001's use correct fuel and spark tables for LS6 intake

I have a shop who told me that my 2001, which comes factory with an LS6 intake, was not realizing it's potential because most LS1's that have the LS6 intake do not have the correct fuel and spark tables for that intake. Someone on this board brought up the point since my car actually comes factory with this intake, that GM should have used the correct tables. The shop thinks I would benefit from reconfiguring the ECM with the LS6 configuration. Of course there is a charge for this, so I need unbias, technical opinions.
Thanks

The stock LS1 fuel/timing tables are actually pretty damn good and you can get by with playing with ported MAFs and using the MAF-T to get optimum numbers. I would not recommend any custom fuel/timing changes until you have done some internal motor work and are at least around 400 rwhp. Until then, its just a waste of time and money.

Thanks, I have been wary on that. I think my dyno numbers are pretty good for my limited mods, and especially for running lean. I would think that if the tables were off, my numbers would be a little lower, but that's just my opinion.

The stock tuning is fine and the ECM, being a learning one, is quite adept at dealing with change.

samiam350-2, sorry to "dis" your shop but I will....if they knew there stuff about LS1's, especially the '01 & '02's, they would already know that GM put out a press release stating that GM Powertrain recalibrated the PCM's for the '01's for both performance and emissions.

This very statement tells me that GM tweaked the '01 F-body PCM's to compensate for higher flowing exhaust manifolds, higher flowing intake, 6.0L camshaft and larger MAF. If you still have doubts, just look at the typical times for an '01 & '02 stock....on average they blow the '98-'00's in the weeds.

I would tend to agree with this. My 01 must have a leaner fuel curve than pre-01 cars because once I did the lid and filter I had pinging. Even with the addition of a MAFT at +14 on the WOT, I still get an occassional light ping.
