Is there an interface that "shims" up or down the entire timing or fuel curve?

Does the stock engine management system adjust base timing in respect to IAT? A better question might be what will the PCM do when it detects a higher IAT?

And how can it tell the octane you are running (reguarding hi/low octane modes)?

I read a great book about Ford engine management... is there a book out about LS1 engine management? I'm sure it's close but knock sensors are another input and probably do more than just tell the computer to pull timing.

Can I find these answers in a factory service manual?

I am a ROOKIE so please keep that in mind. You can select 1 cell or a whole table and tell it to +/- any number you want. I dont know about the IAT stuff yet. This is from the ls1edit maunual
"When the PCM sees excessive Knock, It assumes you are using poor gas, and shifts to the Low Octane Spark Advance table" I dont know what is considered excessive knock and that is a good question.

You might have a look at Charles R. Probst's "Corvette Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Management", 2001. Ignore the electronic throttle control stuff for an F-body. It does touch on several engines.

Excellent. Please keep the discuusion going.. there are a few questions that have not been answered yet.

Mr Probst also wrote the book on Ford fuel injection. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

It is an excellent reference, just as valuble as any tool in my box.

Sadly CFI was Probst's last book. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> He passed away as it was going to press.
