1999/A4-shifts by MPH or RPM?
What effect would tire size have on shift points?
I went from ET Street 26x10.5-15 to ET Drag 26x8.5-15 and hit the limiter on the 2-3 shift. Also set P502 code.
I raised the limit to 6600 and it was fine.
If shifts are RPM based then tire size should have no effect.
If MPH then it would explain what happened.
Does anyone know if the shift parameter was changed and when as to model year?
98-RPM or MPH
99-RPM or MPH
2000-RPM or MPH
2001-RPM or MPH
2002-RPM or MPH
TIA.

I had never heard of the RPM based shifting till recently, then only for 01+. The forthcoming version of LS1-Edit offers WOT shift points as a function of both vehicle speed and RPM, but both constraints must be satisfied to initiate the shift, not one or the other. Part throttle shifting is still a function of vehicle speed.

I'm almost 100% positive my 2000 shifts on mph. When I put in the Yank, I was seeing 1-2 shifts as early as 5700 rpm @ WOT spinning street radials. The MPH would be there but the rpms would be below "normal" shift points.I did a LOT of test runs w/ATAP before I finally had to go +4 w/HPP3 or else feather the gas a lot more off the line-which I still do anyway.
