Was my car hpp3'd?? I purchased my 98 Z28 used 2 1/2 years ago and its starting to detonate at high rpm's. I hear the hpp3 tends to make our cars do that but how can I tell if it was done? It did have a hypertech sticker on it when I purchased it so thats why I'm asking. I currently have 78000 on it with the original plugs in it....would that cause it to detonate? Thanks for the help in advance. Damn thing also keeps giving me low voltage 02 SES codes *sigh*. Colin 98 Z28 |
Re: Was my car hpp3'd?? I really don't think anyone left HPP3 tuning in the car, they wouldn't have been able to use/sell the tuner for another vehicle. Change those plugs!!!! |
Re: Was my car hpp3'd?? Ok thanks...I just wanted to make sure. Any suggestions on what kind of plugs to put in it? It looks almost impossible to get to those back plugs I'd much rather do it myself and save the $$ a dealer would charge and put it towards some mods. Thanks again for the help. Colin |
Re: Was my car hpp3'd?? Many of us like the NGK TR55 plugs. I got hooked on NGK back in my motorcycle days, seemed less prone to fouling, plus I just like a copper electrode plug. I think the TR55s come pre-gapped at .059, some close the gap all the way to .050 depending on mods. On a basically stock engine I've tried .055 and .050 with no noticed performance gains between the 2, but maybe a little smoother idle. If you need a colder plug, you can go to a NGK TR6. [ May 21, 2002, 06:25 PM: Message edited by: gwj ] |
