Default Help me trouble shoot my piece of *&#@ car!

OK, so its not really a POS, but I am getting frustrated.

I was getting a code P0420. Catalyst operating below threshold bank 1.....and so on. I finally get someone to tell me that I have a bad cat. The car has been on jackstands for about a month now because I was trying to get them warrantied. I finally get my new cats and Y-pipe from MAC and install it on Thursday.

Well Friday, I get another friggen SES light. This time its code P0430. Same description as before, but now bank 2.

Could this be just something as simple as an O2 sensor not working properly?

It is compairing sensor #1 to sensor #2 in each bank hot at steady idle. If the o2's switch lean/rich exactly the same it will set a catalyist performance code. The front o2 should switch as normal & #2 o2 will tend to stay on the lean/low voltage output with a good cat. Either chase it down, install o2 simms or don't let it idle steadily for more than 5 seconds. Just get simms for the rears, it does not affect fuel managment at all, just for catalyist monitoring.
