Can't get EFILive to connect to vehicle

I just got it today. I had to buy a Radio Shack USB to serial converter but I want to make sure I have everything right before I take the converter back and try another one. If you go to "File/properties/connection," what should be selected under "Preferred interface?" What is #T16?

Go to this site and download and install the latest version. The CD version has problems.

As gojo says, download the latest software - it contains a number of bug fixes.

#T16 is an interface cable made by Multiplex-Engineering. It does not fully support EFILive's high speed data logging - only the AutoTap interfaces (both V1.x and V2.x) do.
