Question Racetronix - Change the Tune?

Will a Racetronix install change my current tune?

I'm prepping the car for nitrous and while I've got the rear end out, I'm swapping in the Racetronix fuel pump. It will be a few months before I spray, however.

In the meantime - the tune I'm running now is fine. Will this Racetronix pump kit change my tune any?

Thanks in advance!

It won't change a thing unless you have a problem with your fuel pressure regulator. I would recommend changing your fuel filter at the same time, and disconnecting the battery for 5-10 minutes. You don't have to do those things, but if your old pump was weak, its not a bad idea.

That is what I wanted to hear.

The fuel filter is being changed as well (I'm assuming you mean the inline unit) and I will disconnect the battery as well. What purpose does that serve? Just curious.

The old pump wasn't weak, I just don't want to have to rip the rear out again in a few months just for a measly pump install.

Yep, I'm referring to the inline unit.

Disconnecting the battery for 5-10 minutes resets the computer and clears the memory in the PCM for minor fueling adjustments. If there's a slight fuel pressure variance, the PCM will adjust quicker this way since it isn't having to average the new values with the old.

Pressure is determined by the regulator, not the pump.

How do you think pressure builds in the lines then?

The stock regulator is clipped onto the fuel pump assembly in the gas tank. If you add an aftermarket regulator, you need to remove the stock one in the tank.

I was under the impression that the computer turns the pump on and off to maintain the proper pressure. Ok so since im putting the racetronics pump in, do i need to put an adjustable fuel pressure regulator?

Keep your stock regulator.

The computer has nothing to do with controlling the fuel pump or the regulator what-so-ever.
