ultra sensitive VE's? To get my VE's dialed in....I have to increment the values fractionally. IE say a cell is 16:1 afr, and the VE value is 40. I have to make it 40.3 to make it 14.0. Why is my car so dang touchy? This will make it pretty durned hard to tune. Also, FWIW, the few cells I do have dialed in fairly well, are way different than other bins i've seen. i looked at a stocker, and a buds heads/g5x3 VE tables and they are way higher. Also, my bud seemed to think my wideband values seemed to bounce around quite a bit. When I ordered my injectors (lucas 42.5s) from speed inc, i had them sent directly to ARE when they did my motor. I'm wondering know if I even have 42.5's in it, maybe they put 60's in or something? It would not surprise me at all...that clown-show really did a number on my motor, they have/had no clue whats in the motor (or even how to put one together correctly). I redid it recently and hardly anything was what they told me it was supposed to be. |
You know you can increase the resolution of the VE table to display from 40.3 to 40.39765 (for example). That is how I fine tune vehicles. :) |
Yes, of course. I just was fairly surprised that it was that finicky. From what I gather, most aren't. |
Be sure that you aren't chasing something around the tree, like a poorly performing WBO2, an air leak or air pump running, etc. Though in some cases there can be positive feedback in mixture, especially in open loop running off a high enrichment point in the table vs MAP (more fuel further depresses vacuum / raises MAP, leading to even more fuel) this should not be the case in the area of EQ=1.000 commanded. I suspect an offset / sampling / unmetered air sort of error, more than a 0.8% airflow tweak making a 9% AFR actual change. Watching your injector pulse width (higher resolution) might be interesting, did it move 9% (AFR indicated) or did it move 1% (VE modified)? |
This is an OLSD tune. All air is unmetered. I'm fairly certain I dont have anything in regards to a poorly performing WBO2 (new), an air leak (unmetered), or air pump running (doesn't have), etc. |
Has anyone else experienced this? Makes using the RTT features very hard. I can't just increment/decrement a cell with the + - button. Have to change it by hand. |
Normally its not that sensitive. Definately check the basics. |
when i was fiddling with my 60# motron injectors mine was VERY sensitive....thats another story, gotta finish that in august. |
