lost both o2's at the same time I have a scanmaster in the car for daily knock reporting.Today I get a ses code 0153 on the way to work and notice both o2's are very lazy. What could cause something like this when both sides die at the same time? These are denso sensors less than a year of use.No leaded fuel ever and nothing was done to the car prior to this happening except a gas fill up. Update: On the way home from work the o2's switched normally and no ses light.Could this be some glitch in the pcm not turning on thr heaters or somethine?Obviously the o2's won't magically heal themselves,I don't get it. Any ideas out there please share them. Mark |
sometimes if the O2's do not swich quickly enough, a code will be thrown. Sometimes they can heat up and get de-fouled, going back to the normal 10 switches per second, and the code will disappear. |
They were not switching at all when this happened ,I watched the scantool readout sit between .935 and .960 for 20 miles.I know what they look like warming up , mine usually sit around .450 for a while then take off.I have never seen this behavior before, funkin weird.I also watched bank2 and it was doing the same thing. |
try unplugging the harnesses, clean them off, apply some dielectric grease to the contacts. Also look for wire contact with the primaries, burnt/shorted wires could cause faulty O2 operation. If you have time, pull out the O2 and look at the head. If they are overly blackened they are fouled, if they look white, could be silicate deposits from a coolant burning off in the exhaust stream. Just a couple things to look at... |
Was i there about 1800 miles ago when I did heads and cam, they looked good then. The wires are all prepared will silcone grease when assembled, wire ties used to route wires away from all hot spots also.I can't understand how it could do this and then heal itself. |
