Switching PCM's Dunno if this is the right place for this or not but oh well. I want to send my PCM in for a mail order tune and I have a buddy that his 02' M6 WS6 is out of commission for a while. My 01' M6 WS6 is my only car so I can't afford to be without it for the 4+ days it will take to get my PCM to TSP and back. Can I swap in his PCM until I receive mine back from TSP? Will my car run on it without a problem? Like does the VIN programmed into it have to match or something??? Just looking for a simple yes it will work or no it won't. |
Wont work , PCM is linked to a car and without GM relinking it it will not start |
It would work, but you would have to do a Vats relearn. To do that you need to hook up the computer, then turn on the key and try to start it then leave the key on for 600 seconds. Then, turn off the key and repeat 3 times. |
Vats relearn on F-cars? I was under the impression that the F-cars use an enable (50 hz square wave) signal from the BCM to keep vats from turning the engine off. Is this incorrect? (I have swapped about 10 pcm in various f-cars without ever having to do any relearns) I know the trucks/vettes use the serial communication with the bcm, and require a relearn. Thanks Ryan |
