Power programmer on a 6 speed question?

A friend of mine has a 6 speed z28 and we need to know what are the advantages and disadvantages with a programmer on a 6 speed?

depends :)
power programmer meaning hypertech power programmer 3?

if so... really the only thing it'd be good for is changing fan turnon points, changing rear gear, changing tire size

The power programming is hit or miss...

so advantages:
can change tire height and rear gear ratio
can change rev limiter to 6600 RPM
can change fan turn on points

disadvantages:
power programming is hit or miss.... for most it seems to lean their cars out bad... especially if they have any modifications to their MAF
if purchasing new.... overpriced
if purchasing used.... make sure it's someone you can trust and that they returned the unit to stock.... otherwise it's a nice paperweight

Thaks man, we couldnt decide on that or a dyno tune.

If you have someone locally you trust to do a custom tune then that is a good route to go.

If not I would not do the Hypertech, they are not all that. The Diablo Predator is alot better programmer and allows you to do way more than any other programmer on the market right now. You can do the following:

Adjust:
Gear ratio
Fan on/off temps
Tire Size
Speedlimiter
Rev Limit
Spark from 1000-1800, 2000-4000, 4000-8000
Fuel enrichment from 2000-4000, 4000-8000
Injector Slope
COT funtion for cats
and turning off alot of the codes for the O2's, EGR, and AIr system.

It also has a real time data mode and can read and clear DTC's.

Is cot converter over temp?
