Default F.A.S.T. 90/90 > no tune ... how hard can I run it?

F.A.S.T. 90/90 was installed today and the shop foreman told me not to lay into the throttle too hard until it is tuned. Tuner is out-of-town for a few days, so, I want to know how hard I can run the car witout it being tuned after the 90/90 setup was changed out from my old LS6 intake and jantzer ported throttle body.

Since it's rich as hell now, there's no issues with knock retard, so, where's the danger of running it too hard, untuned with just this combo change?

If all that has been changed since your last tune is the fast then i really wouldnt worry about it a ton. But its really not worth the risk of beating on it and hurting something instead of just waiting a day or two. i prolly wouldnt take it over 4k rpms tho to be safe

... can anybody tell me where the danger is in running it too hard with just the change from LS6 intake and ported throttle body to a F.A.S.T. 90/90 setup? Motor's forged, injectors are 30# SVO, and Racetronics fuel pump will support plenty of excess fuel. Other than fuel lightoff in the exhaust and spitting a little fire from the exhaust tips, where's the danger from running too rich?

If the MAF is still in the picture then it should be still
giving you the real airflow and nothing too kooky. The
fast throttle movements that would step MAP and go
back to the perhaps offset speed density tune, maybe
lean-out momentarily, I would keep to a necessary
minimum until you have had time to scope out the
whole driving envelope. Maybe ease into it one time
to start. If a she gonna break, she a gonna break.

Thanks jimmyblue. Yeah, the car still has the MAF on it. I accelerated a little bit hard a few times yesterday after I drove it for about 20 miles ... took it up to about 4500 rpm. I'll take the advice and keep it down below 4000 until Mike's available to tune it. Hoping that will be this week, but, not sure when he will be back from South Florida.
