I've seen it on the "customer page" -

http://www.hptuners.com/customers/upgrade.php

You'll need your serial # and the customer login password
to get there, maybe.

Okay, I'm logged in, I see upgrades, but which one do I need? The car is a 98 Z28. I know I don't want SD tuning. BTW I have the standard suite.

Matt,

If you want only one VIN locked license, input 2 for the quantity next to Additional GM Credits:. If you want to license the whole year of the model you want to license, then input 6 for the quantity next to Additional GM Credits:. Or as many credits as you desire, then hit add to cart.

I'll see if I can cet my camera to work and post a pic of the screen. But right now the page just shows
Adding Vehicle Support
1bar SD Enhanced ordering
2bar and 3bar Enhanced ordering
Serial interface to USB MPVI Interface upgrade

The only place I can see to order extra GM credits is if I order HP tuners again and it has a place to order more. I'm totally confused on this. Thanks for the help guys and hopefully you can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

sounds like he has serial...if so he's not under the credit licensing...he's under the old year/model licensing in which he'll have to follow the instructions on his orders page for adding vehicle support.

Serial cable HPT versions don't license by the credit system. You have to contact their sales dept to purchase additional vehicle licenses and can not license single vins. You have to have the MPVI USB version to use the credit system.

Yes, but you will have to pay the license fee for the entire model year 98 F-bodies. It will either be $199 or $399 depending on how many licenses you already have.

You can upgrade your serial cable to the USB cable for I think around $150. All your current licenses wil transfer over and then you start using the credit system for all future licenses. You don't get any additional credits for the $150, just the new cable.

the usb interfaces store the licenses IN the hardware...the serial interfaces(like you have) store the licenses IN the software. Bottom line is you cannot do pcm/vin locking on the serial interface...if you'd like to upgrade from the serial to the usb version the instructions for that are listed on that page.

With the serial you fall under the old licensing structure.

It's going to make it hard to plug a USB cable into it.
