Question ECT Problem Please Help

I put headers on about a year ago and when I did I broke the ECT sensor in the driver’s side head. Since I really wanted to drive the car I ordered a new sensor and just super-glued the broken one back together. Everything was fine driving with the old super-glued sensor. When the new sensor came in I installed it and the car wouldn’t start unless I pulled the fuel pump fuse start it up and then put the fuse back in. So I put the old sensor back in and everything was fine for a few months. Then I noticed that the temp gauge would dance around once and awhile. Randomly and very rarely the car would start to die and would get flooded when I would try to start it. I just got it out of storage yesterday and I decided to change the coolant and try to put another new sensor in to take care of the random issues. As soon as I put this new sensor in the ses light came on and it was flooding again it wouldn’t start, the temp gauge just sits dead and the fans just stay on. So I put the old one back in and now it did work either the gauge briefly went up but then down again. I switched them back and forth a few times and then the old one started working normally again. Until a unplugged it to check the ends and it started acting up again. Everything looks fine the connections are clean so I am thinking it must be the wires. Is there any way to check them? Please help!

You can read this for some detailed diagnostic steps. You will probably need to check the wires for signal going back to the PCM. IIRC, the ECT signal is on the C1 (blue) connector pin 74.

It can, but if the PCM thinks the engine is super cold or super hot it will add a bunch of fuel. OL commanded AFR's in the cold temperatures are single digits (9:1), and the PCM will never move to CL. Very easy to over fuel the engine like this.

Hopefully you have access to a scan tool and a DVOM so you can A) see what the PCM is seeing, B) run through the diagnostic steps I posted a link to in order to check the circuit.

Default I think it is fixed

Last night I went home and checked everything again and found nothing. So I thought I would try and pinch the female ends of the ECT sensor plug closer together. It worked they must have been just lose enough to only conact some of the time that is why I was getting the dancing gauge. Thanks for the help.
