Default Vin # transfer to new PCM?

I have LS1Edit and it is the PCM locked version (i.e. will only work with my current VIN number).

If I had to change the PCM in the car (burned the old one out), how would I get the VIN of my car put into the new PCM? I have always worried about this.

You need to take the new one to someone who has a Tech-II or SPS flash reprogammer and they can flash new PCM along with the VIN number.

BUT LS1edit only works per PCM and not just VIN number so even if the new one has the same VIN your locked LS1edit will not work with new PCM unless you pay carputing another $200 to have 2nd PCM be used with your interface.

I believe that carputing has (or had at one time) offered to switch your Vin lock if you send them the burned up PCM - you would have to email them and check.
