Dude, you got to do better than that. How can anybody give any advice with that amount of info?
Car, engine, cam, heads, intake, t-body, tune, etc.
tune and a data log would be awesome.

i told you i was starting to go crazy. it a 98 firebird, 408, 243 cnc heads, fast 90/90. do not no tune or any data, its stuck in someones shop for about a month now. the motors new with about 50 miles on it. the cam is a custom solid roller.

without the current tune its hard to determine if its even a tuning issue at all.

+1. Dont know the RAF, the IAC, if the throttles drilled, if its leaned out enough @ idle, yada, yada, yada.

what can i do, they told me my car was ready i went to pick up the car and was told the cam was so big and it would not idle. i took the car home and it was horrible to drive on the street. took it back and there still searching!

Whos doing it? PM me if ya dont wanna post it.
Regardless how big the cam is, it should be tunable.

You need to find a new shop... not poking at your guys or what-not, but damn. I'm not kidding either. Besides, how can we help YOU if someone else is tuning your car? There is a way to tune every cam I have ever seen.

i rather not say, i'm not bashing them. i was just trying to ease my mind a little. i'm almost ready to throw in the towel and put a carburated 540 in it.

Find someone else to tune it. What area?

408lq9 Oct 20, 2007 10:47 PM

texas, kinda worried about taking the car to another shop and them finding out theres other issues. and the shop that build the motor blaming the new shop.

Sounds like you need to bite the bullet and take it somewhere else. If they cant make it run, you need to find someone that can. Theres plenty of LSx shops out there. I'm sure someone will look it over for you and tell you whats up. It may just need a good tuner.

Just do it before the motor is complete junk.If it can't idle who know's if the motor will last long.

what can be done. since the engine was paid for and the car was returned and they still can't solve the problem. can i get my money back and start some where else. this is a complete build. i'm getting tired of the bs. i'm trying to be as patient as possible.

im from indiana but bought my car in texas and when i was there i heard of some good f-body places out there in texas. so just search and i bet u can find a good place

DaveX Oct 21, 2007 03:44 PM

It probably just needs more air. But you spent alot of money to get it to this point and you can't drive it or know what you need to do without scanning and tuning. Either get your own sofware & wideband or take it to someone who knows what they are doing. I wouldn't even attempt to drive it without doing this first.

Jeff@TotalPerformanceEng Oct 21, 2007 04:03 PM

So let me get this right...
You'd rather NOT have your car, let someone who obviously doesnt know what their doing work on the car, and risk hurting the motor, cause you dont want to eat the couple hundred worth tune money???? That makes no sense at all.
If they said the car was finished, then all it is lacking is the right tune. Eat the cash, and take it elsewhere..PERIOD. Quit fuking around, and get it right.

Not trying to be a dick, but your gonna get a phone call telling you theres something mechanical wrong, and YOU are gonna get stuck with the bill..

I could proly get it tuned for you. I have done sprint cars with no flywheels and big cams with L-92 Heads.
