burning up PCM's

has anyone ever had problems with multiple PCM's going bad, i never had any problems with my car untill i had the cam put in now ever since ive been burning up pcms and can't tune and just one headache after another. found out another one went bad today and i really do just want to get some C4 and blow the piece of shit up but that's not a very cost efficient solution although it would make me better. it is a 99 and have heard they are the worst year for tuning and stuff like that, not sure if it's true or not but is there anything i can do or should i just keep putting in 400$ computers.

when you say go bad what do you mean?

I sell cores for 84 shipped if you need one.

I have not seen any go bad unless user error..

The 2001 isnt anything more special than the 1999-2000 part number. The software fully interchanges from 1999 to 2002

Sounds like you have a short somewhere.

What he says, I also have never seen or heard of 99 PCM's going bad unless while uploading you get an interruption...

what is happening to them?

little_chewy_69 Mar 5, 2008 02:29 AM

Stuff ends up not responding like to sensors and doesn't read anything. hookep it up to computer and says all is peachy nothing wrong A/F are where they should be and ect. but the thing is there not where they should be one bank is running lean the other is rich. i don't know a whole lot about tuning and diagnostics but the guys at the dealership said that the computer is fried. and no it's not bad O2's ive replaced the along with a lot of other stuff.

400 dollar computers? I'd be interested in your "bad" ones.

little_chewy_69 Mar 5, 2008 02:56 PM

well if you guys don't believe me who wants my pcm, i'll send it to you and you can try to put it in your car and see how it works. i know the guy who worked on it personally and i don't think he would try to dick me. this is a freak accident. is there any way he could have messed up the cam sensor or pinched the wire to it or something to cause it to be grounding out.

Give me a call, info on my website, id be glad to take a look at it for you and see if it has any problems.

camaroguy26 Mar 8, 2008 03:50 PM

yeah 98 years are the worst though they don't even go bad often unless the write is interrupted or you try to write a program from one comp to the other. never write entire a different PCM's program to the next
