Flashing SES light. What's it mean?

I have a code for the drivers rear 02, but once in awhile I will get the light flashing on & off.

A catalyst damaging misfire to be exact.

"Nice times for just bolt on there black sunshine" Thanks.

"A catalyst damaging misfire to be exact"

What does that mean? Will that go away when the code has been deleated?

Does that effect performanc? I still need to get a tune on the car with the new 393, so I know the car is not running dead on. My one time to the track the car ran "ok". MPH switched between 120 & 115 all day. Not in between, either one or the other.

Re: Flashing SES light. What's it mean?

The misfires definitely will not go away by simply clearing a code. A catalyst damaging misfire is where the engine has crossed a predetermined threshold of too many misfires per monitor cycle for the catalytic converters to live out their normal life span. In other words you are killing your cats! A misfire always affects performance. Do something about it quick.
