Recalibrate my shift points?!?!?!?

Well I have posted several times on this forum about the transmission that I had rebuilt. First question is did I pay too much? I paid $2,300.00 for them to rebuild the transmission cause 3rd and 4th clutch seized up! After the first time I took it to them, i had to take it back 2 days later for the same thing!! they said it needed a shift kit......so they installed a shift kit.......now it shift fine around town but if i take it to the track to do quarter mile runs third gear at WOT bounces off the rev limiter and won't shift unless i get out of the throttle and get back into it again!!! They insist that i need to have the shift points recalibrated.......but what would replacing the trans with stock parts and a shift kit have to do with my computer.......the last time i talked to the mech, he said he would ask around and give me a call back that was a month ago!!! And now I am fed up!!! I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, because they still haven't fixed the underlying problem. Does my computer need to be recalibrated for some reason???? sorry for the long post someone please help me!!!

It could mean you need to have the shift points adjusted, or it could be that the clutches aren't holding at WOT power levels, either case the symptoms are similar - bouncing off the rev limiter, having to get off the gas to get a shift. My Impala SS transmission was built by a supposed transmission expert, and it eventually failed due to burned up 3-4 clutches and it does the same thing at the top of second gear. No amount of shift point adjusting has helped it.

Thanks for the reply. I actually took it back to the Trans guy that did it the first time, and told him to fix it right this 4th time or he will be hearing from my lawyer..............:punch:

If your shift point and rev limiter are too close together it will do that. I just did a trans tune for a guy after he got gears and it bounced off the rev limiter at WOT going into third because I forgot to change the shift points and rev limit. Works great now.

I haven't had my new gears installed yet.......i have it stock still except for the things stated in my signature( minus the gears) so i don't see why any of that would affect my shift points.......but i do understand what you mean about installing the gears how the shift points need to be recalibrated............
