Default What should my title say?

I was wondering the other day. I have a 96 WS6. But according to my title and dmv and insurance etc its a firebird formula ws6. Does that mean its a formula and the last owner salpped on the trans am kit? Becuase my ls1 was registers as a firebird trans am ws6. Is there a difference between the lt1 and ls1 years as far as titles go? Are all LT1 WS6s Formulas? Or do i have a bona fide formula in disguise? Because 96 formula ws6s are rare and it would make me very happy!

The Vin # is not model specific it merely identifies a V8 Firebird.

Find your RPO sticker (should be in the Glove box)

Look for the codes
WS9 ; Formula Conversion Pkg (means it's a V8 Firebird)
W66 ; Formula Merchandise Pkg (if it has this it is a Formula)
Y82 ; Trans Am Merchandise Pkg (if it has this it is a Trans Am)

All V8 cars will have the WS9 code but the car should have one of the other two codes W66 or Y82. These are what identifies the Model.
And obviously if it's a real WS6 it will have that code aswell.

ok thanks ill check it out. I know ws6 is there becuase the guy i bought it from told me it was for sure a genuine ws6 but it didnt hace the badge so i checked the RPO sticker. This also made me more suspicious maybe it didnt have a badge becuase he swapped the trans am bumper off a base model.

Formula on the title is typical in many states.
Don't worry about it. Search 'Formula title' & you'll find many threads about this.

Go on with your day & don't ever worry about it again, ...

My T/A says Formula in the dealer's computer, but T/A on the title. Its not a WS-6, but it has the Y82 package.

i just checked mine and it's titled as

"Firebird/Formula Tra" (i'm assuming they ran out of room typing out Trans Am)
