Installed the shift adapter and put on a new ****. Now I am waiting for the custom boots for the shifter and e-brake to arrive from Redline Goods. Also put another spring on the trunk release because I was tired of having to hit the button multiple times to get it open.

I had my car custom tuned by Todd Engelbrecht of Blue Thunder 2 Racing. It made a big difference. The car pulls alot harder now and runs great.

Changed plug and wire for cylinder 8 (did the other 7 last weekend). Got the idler pulley held on by the Torx bit off and lubed it (did the other 2 a long time ago). And I finished claying the front of the car.

Now just waiting for my Porter Cable polisher to arrive so I can polish up the paint some!

Hey old, welcome to lS1tech!

Why did you leave #8 until now?

I did the other 7 plugs/wires from the engine compartment. Number 8 was easier to replace from under the car. And I did the pulley from underneath too. My ramps are a bit too high to just drive on so I have to jack the car up and slide them underneath - makes raising the car a bit of a pain.

Oh yeah, and I managed to tighten up my steering rack a little which seems to have cured my vibration when stopping.

I've found that removing the R/S coil packs on their bracket allows plenty access to all four plugs. Just remember to get the plug wires on the plugs before replacing the coil packs.

What year is this beauty?

Yeah, I read a writeup about moving the coil packs but it sounded like a bother. Replacing the plug from below was pretty easy.

It's a 2000 model with 125k miles. I'm guessing the plugs were original. They were Denso PTJ16R15 - anyone know if those are the original type?

Wrapped up the shifter and e-brake appearance mods by installing the Redline leather boots.

Thanks! I'm pleased with they way they turned out. Gave a nice look to the otherwise bland A4 consoles. On a side note, check out what I found under the console when I pulled it apart to install them.

Didn't exactly do anything to the car, but I bought the remaining parts to finish doing my head gaskets! Had to pick up the elbow that goes on the front of the intake for the pcv line and my gasket set.

I painted my intake the other day though. It's red, not exactly lt4 red. Not that I want it to pass for that. I just like red.

Went to install my level 3 speaker upgrade from Kee Audio and found the main reason why my sound system was so crappy. All the wires for the sails and the 4" hatch speakers were cut. For no apparent reason, just cut and then the grill popped back on. Why someone would cut the pigtail wires instead of unplugging it is beyond me. So I spent many hours cursing the previous owner while removing/re-installing interior body panels in order to fix the harnesses. But everything is installed and sounding good now.

You can go see the full write up of what I found with pics here:
