Default 15mpg city/hwy m6 02ws6

car only has 30k miles. im wondering how people see this 23+mpg so often. shifting at 2k i assume.. i normally shift at 3k exactly and ride around 2.5k and get on it every once in a blue moon, is this the problem or does fuel filter/bad 02s sound like a more likely cause

change plugs/wires
change fuel filter
check pcv system
clean maf
replace front 02 sensors.

I get 18-24ish right now in my 170k a4.

I get 15-18 in the city pending driving style and 16-28 on the hwy... Same reasoning, as stated do a tune up. Also what Octane fuel do you run?

I am no expert, but the 98 TA I just sold with 225K+ miles got 20+ MPG in town and almost 30 highway. I cruise at 1.5K and that likely would make the difference for you. Shift that thing...it has 6 gears for a reason. I know it doesn't have the immediate punch without down shifting, but I haven't found too many reasons to keep the RPM's that high. If I see a Mustang nearby, I might keep the car one gear lower than normal, but generally keeping it under 2K works well for me. I can cruise the bypass in my town at 65 MPH running around 1.5K and get excellent MPG.

x10, OP you're not driving a gutless 4 cylinder, keep the RPMs between 1000 and 1500 when cruising and shift around 2-2500RPMs. Try to stay in 5th and 6th.

When your shifting at 3k your waisting gas because it's pulling pretty good but it's power u don't need. I used to shift at 3k all the time. Makes the exhaust sound good. but I've seen that when I stay shifting at 2k I keep my gas tank longer.

also take out the pcv valve and shake it. If it rattles it's ok but if not, then it needs to be replaced.

I average around 18 to 22 mixed driving but mostly highway shifting around 2k and some not that low lol. On my most recent trip I averaged 32 mpg on highway around 75 or 80mph and reaching tripple digits a few times. Also went thru like 5 small towns, got to love that six speed.
