My attempt at a Shaker (project still in progress)

That's just badass. I think it would look killer with a wide flat black stipe up the middle like the early Blue and White 70's Trans Ams.
What year is that scoop? 1970-1975? I think that was the smooth rounded one. I think 1976-1981 were the more angular one with the raised spine in the middle.

I have considered mocking up a stripe with cheap vinyl to see how it looks. I originally wanted the light blue stripe, but not sure about it yet.
I "think" it's 70-76, and 77-?? Either way, yes it is an early 70's scoop.

I like it and I dont like it. I think the lines will work if you do some rocker panels on the bottom. Just an idea. The work looks clean though, you've done well so far. Check out the Year One snowflake wheels, those could really help pull the throw back to the past for your car. Then definitly do some blue stripes, that would look sick. Good job though, I cant wait to see how it finishes out.

I'm still contemplating that. I actually will probably do one of two things.
1. Utilize a LT1 SS type of tube
2. Build a different box a little bit shorter, with a tapered end and do a 180 degree Silicone adapter from the end of the box to the MAF, all in the factory location.

I have the solenoid that came with the scoop. It can be wired to open when the car is on, and closed when the car is off. I wouldn't think that any more water would go in this way compared to the factory location.
I also have the gasket that goes around the scoop. I can use that with the drain tube to take the water elsewhere. This way the amount of water from the scoop hole is reduced.

that looks really cool.
I think the size of the scoop is not the problem..its that its not offset by the T/A wing in the back. Your formula wing makes that shaker look huge. I bet if you threw a T/A wing on it it would look killer.
Nice job. would love to see more pictures. WHo knows. you might of started soemthing.
ANd yes a blue or black stripe will do wonders.

It's even and level, although it doesn't look like it. The "wavy" part in the back of the whole is distorted is from the glass, and it's taken from the drivers seat rather than in the center. Plus it was taken with my iPhone rather than my dSLR like the other pictures.

That setup is sick as hell.. I would trade my OEM hood and stainless lid for that in a heartbeat.... i was thinking about doing something like this to mine... a butterfly setup that opens progressively with the throttle increase...kind of like the blower scoops... let me know if you want to trade.. lol

Dropped my car off for paint today. After the paint cures for a month or two I am gonna try to get a shaker installed and a dark gray stripe up the center like the '70-'72 TA.

looks great! for others yes this has been discussed in 6LE's thread i think in the paint and bodywork section or appearance section, in a lot more depth. i like the earlier scoop better than the creased '79 one, flows better with the curved hoods. are you doing a filter in the box area like 6LE's kit? and whats this of a butterfly valve opening? +1 on painting it white, though with a black sail panel and black mirrors it may look sinister, and use a white decal on the side...
