I was watching American Pickers on History Channel the other night and caught a glimpse of a wrecked Trans Am on some guys farm that was awesome looking. I would guess the car to be in the 1976-80 range. It was bright red, had a white (vinyl?)top, and tinted t-tops. The front of the car was destroyed and they only showed it for a few seconds. It was slickkkkkkk. I have never seen these does anyone have any pictures? Are they rare? What year would that have been?

To the best of my knowledge and sources, the only vinyl tops would have been on the first-gen. Sounds like aftermarket work.

There were some early 2nd gen Camaros with vinyl tops. So Im thinking it's possible.

I know the early 2nd gens could be had with a full vinyl top. The later 4th gens could be had with a "canopy" vinyl top, just covering the front of the roof (where the t-tops would go). The vinyl tops were never available with t-tops...but as with everything else the aftermarket can do anything (I've seen lexus ES350s with vinyl tops around here.

The last factory vinyl top 2nd gen I was was a 74 Super Duty Formula....maroon with a maroon vinyl top. Talk about rare!

saw an ugly 2nd gen orange firebird with a black vinyl top the other day...fuggggggly. 1st gen vinyl tops look good tho.
