That amount sure is a lot of money for an engine. What car will it be powering?

ramairetransam 04-04-2011 12:51 PM

20k for that , no way , way too much money .

Transamrobws6 04-04-2011 01:14 PM

It will be a ws6. Its a lot but rare car. I am a contractor over seas so i know i can afford it.

Transamrobws6 04-04-2011 01:25 PM

I think it would be a rare opportunity. I know it is expensive but given everything they offer. I mean iI think it would be worth it.

WarShrike 04-04-2011 03:26 PM

Well, not many speed shops offer a warranty on their builds...

metalmilitia606 04-04-2011 03:36 PM

I say if you have the funds and you aren't concerned about spending 20k on a car I say go for it. If it's really something you want to do and you can do go for it.

MasterTomos 04-04-2011 03:37 PM

In all honesty, thats not an awful price especially with warranty. It'd be like making the car new again.

Very true.

Go for it! I'm all for supporting the economy in Indiana! :)

I think so too BUT the car must be really nice to start with, not a body with issues of any kind or horribly high mileage.

DSworo9 04-05-2011 01:12 PM

IMO, No. You can take half of that money and build-up your TA and come close to the out put that they promise. Then take the other half & invest it. All IMO...

StuntmanMike 04-05-2011 06:19 PM

It seems like you'd be able to get those numbers for less, but then again, the warranty is very nice. Plus you get the bragging rights of saying you have a LPE motor.

If the money isn't an issue for you and you really love the car (and like was said above, it's a really NICE car) andplan on keeping it, go for it.

In the end it's your money, do with it what makes you happy. You certainly can't take it with you.

95batmobile 04-05-2011 06:27 PM

mmmmmmm contracting moneyyyyy gotta love it. if i had the money instead of taking it to them.. i would take it to a local race shop... granted there will be no warrante and no cool lingenfelter name but you could have a few hundred more horse power for that much money.... and by a few hundred... that conservative

2000TransAmWS6 04-05-2011 07:26 PM

its a very cool option to have... if you're not concerned with the name that is associated with the engine builder, you'd save a bunch of money having a local speed shop (that specializes in GM cars) build it.

personally, for several reasons the warranty wouldn't be a big deal to me

Paul Bell 04-05-2011 08:44 PM

It all looks good BUT for that money, I'd expect it to have a F.A.S.T. intake (102) and matching TB. AND what's with the stock GM head bolts? An engine of this level requires head and main studs.

THENASCAR 04-05-2011 09:38 PM

it would be awesome, but you could have a reputable shop build you something more powerfull for less money.

gm02ceta 04-05-2011 10:11 PM

If you're converting a 5 gen. Camaro into a Trans Am I'd say go for it but since your list doesn't mention any body modifications I assume you're doing it to a 4th gen WS6.

$20G's and it doesn't include the reciprocating mods to support all that horsepower like a stronger rear end and tranny etc. But if you got the loot then it wouldn't be a problem for you.

20TA02 04-05-2011 10:20 PM

if it doesnt hurt you to spend 20K and its what you want,
screw it... money comes and money goes... plus, you only live once... :headbang:

JohnnyBs98WS6Rag 04-08-2011 08:51 AM

With that much power, you better be opting for the HD transmission upgrade, AND a 9" rear end. I'd avise other chassis/brake upgrades as well, that'll be one wild ride.
