It's a slow process but in the end will be worth it. If you weren't seeing much rust or having engine trouble I would wait until it needs to be done then go with it from there.

ok so rad support is on and dynamat is in as well. Im getting ready for the engine to be put back in and am still a little behind on what i need for the hvac delete, i have the panel what else needs to be done?

also does anyone know if egr is required for a state inspections

It's been about five years or so but I use to over see several inspection stations as part of my job. From what I recall, if the underhood stickers show that it had an EGR from the factory (or if the stickers are gone, the spec books the inspection stations are required to have will show it as having had one when new) then it is supposed to have one. The good news however is that the inspection process does not include the proper function test(s) of said smog parts. They just have to "be there" and appear as if the are "correctly installed and connected."

Where in Maryland are you? I'm out west where we don't have to go through smog testing.

Nice progress on your Bird!!!

Every state can be different when it comes to smog laws. For example, 1829 is dead wrong for AZ laws. We don't have an underhood inspection for OBDII vehicles. They simply plug in to the ALDL connector and test the fuel cap and fuel tank for vapor leaks. If the component isn't working, it will flag the inspection and you will fail. Now, if there is no code, there is no problem and you pass since they don't pop the hood. Do you understand what is being said here??

What a great opportunity to build a very professional trap door. You can make something up that will allow plenty of access, yet look like it came from the factory. How about a removable panel that fastens with nutserts?

More progress, new rad support is going on tonight hopefully by the weekend interior is painted and so is the underneath so it can start going back together!
Did you ever happen to find out what that panel was called?? And did you have to order a new replacement or cut one off a donor? Great work.

You shouldn't need one since it's a separate belt.

deleting chac cleans up the engine bay and takes out some weight, airbag is for safety though so that can stay.
